St John’s Wort is in just about every riverbed I've been in recently. It’s grows wild, green and beautiful with a glorious display of yellow flowers through summer.
St John’s Wort is well known for its positive effects on the nervous system and mental health. In fact, it’s so good, it’s advised not to take it with other anti-depressants as it can cancel them out!!!!
The use of St John’s Wort dates right back to the early Greeks. It was considered an Herbe of Protection and it’s effectiveness attracted much superstition during the Middle Ages. St John’s Wort oil was famously used by the Crusader Knights for pain relief and healing.
Historically it’s been used for bleeding, diarrhea, liver issues, jaundice, extreme emotional states, hysteria, depression, decongestant, chronic bronchitis, chronic bedwetting, wounds, internal ulcers, external ulcers, hemorrhages, dysentery, earache, toothache, general nervousness, fainting fits, rheumatism, arthritis, worms, especially thread worms, skin eruptions, abrasions, blisters, inflammations, scalds, burns, rashes, infectious rashes, scarlet fever, typhus and more.
Wow!!! What an amazing herb we have quietly growing around us.
It’s not meant to be complicated to be well. Nor is it meant to be expensive.
