Fibromyalgia????? Polymyalgia????? Pain?????
Some years ago, when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I was told there was no cure and all I could do was to learn how to manage the pain. I did 2 years of assisted pain management at Burwood Hospital with no improvement. Frustrated, and not wanting to live the rest of my life in pain, I began to study.
After achieving several certificates and while studying for my Diploma, my research led me to topical magnesium spray. I almost didn’t try it because I thought it was too simple for something as “complicated” as Fibromyalgia. Fortunately, because it was cheap and I had nothing to lose, I did try it, and within 3 months I was almost completely pain free.
When I told my pain specialist that I was using topical magnesium for the pain and it was working, he told me I was the third person in as many days to tell him that, but he said he could not recommend it because it was not funded. What???????? Who gets that???????
Pain is becoming a more common theme when people come to see me. And I am shocked by how many people have now been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It’s gone from almost unknown, to what appears to be almost epidemic proportions in just the last 10 years.
There are many things we can do, nutritionally, for pain. And remember, nutrition is our “Fuel”. What would happen if you put bad fuel in your car?
Most people are now magnesium deficient, because there is no longer enough in our food. We are always degenerating and since magnesium is responsible for regenerating, if we are not getting enough then we are just degenerating. And that speeds the onset of multiple painful degenerative issues. While we still live, the body never loses its ability to regenerate, as long as we give it the right “fuel”.
Most people know that Magnesium chloride (the same magnesium that’s in the sea) relaxes the muscles. But it is also thought to control muscle contractions and to relax nerve sheaths, which may then release pressure on the nerves. It’s also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and to block NMDA (pain) receptors. Regenerating Vitamin D remains dormant in the body until activated by Magnesium. Magnesium deficiency has been linked to multiple neurological and pain disorders and has been suggested for years for it’s postoperative analgesic (pain relieving) role as a therapy treatment for acute and chronic pain.
So the best thing we can do, before anything else can be truly effective, is to get our fuel right.
It’s not meant to be complicated to be well, nor is it meant to be expensive.
