Ivy leaf contains saponins which, via the nervous system, activate cells in the lungs to remove excess mucous.
It can cause an upset stomach, if taken in large doses but is believed to be safe and effective in controlled doses.
It can also cause minor skin reactions so it may be wise to wear gloves when working with it.
Traditionally it has been used to treat bronchitis, whooping cough, arthritis, rheumatism, dysentery, lice, scabies, sunburn, swelling and blockage of airway passages, air purification, breathing issues, cough, jaundice and more.
Who would have thought that another common weed that we continually try to eradicate could be so useful?
It’s not meant to be complicated to be well. Nor is it meant to be expensive.
